Old-Fashioned String Beans and Bacon Ingredients

1 c String beans 1/4 lb Bacon, diced
*plus: 1/4 ts Salt
Liquid 1 Sm Onion
2 Med Potato, diced 1 c Water

Instructions for Old-Fashioned String Beans and Bacon

Can use fresh string beans, substituting equivalent amount for the canned. Cut potatoes into 1/2 inch dice. Brown the bacon and combine with the other ingredients and cook about 30 minutes until potatoes are soft. Source: Pennsylvania Dutch Cook Book - Fine Old Recipes, Culinary Arts Press, 1936.
