Suggest a better descriptionCook the potatoes following instructions on the pack. Drain well when cooked. Meanwhile, heat the oil in a frying pan, add the onions and fry, stirring occasionally until softened, slightly golden brown and caramelised. Preheat the oven to 190 C, 375 F, Gas Mark 5. Place the potatoes in a greased shallow ovenproof dish. Spoon over the caramelised onions, grilled bacon, chopped chives and gruyere cheese, add seasoning. Carefully mix the ingredients together. Pour over the cream and bake in the preheated oven for 20-30 minutes until golden brown and bubbling. Notes Serve as an accompaniment, alternatively serve with a crisp green and tomato salad for a light lunch, snack or starter. NOTES : A delicious warming dish that can be eaten on its own or as part of a meal as an accompaniment.
