Chicken Carbonara

Good, basic, savory dish. A bit salty for my taste but easy to make.

I made this tonight because I had left-over rice and peas. I cooked the onions and used whipping cream, not heavy cream. It turned out great and my husband, who's a carbonara lover, was impressed.

I altered this recipe some, and it was delicious! We used 5 pieces of bacon instead of 10 oz, broccolli instead of peas and egg noodles instead of the packaged rice. We loved it! Unfortunately, I couldn't really get my sauce to thicken but it was very tasty anyways. Mmm :)!

Pretty standard fare...very rich, could use a little something for bite, acid or vinegar maybe. I added some mushrooms and put this over fettucini as I had made rice stuffed peppers to go with it.

This is super easy to make and delicious. The cream made me feel guilty but it was so worth it.

This was very good. We will be having it again.

This ended up being quite tasty, although very rich. It could perhaps use a bit more spice for flavor, but even as-is still a decent recipe.

I would make some changes to the way I made it - the overall assembly was easy - but the directions were a little confusing - course it could be my brain on an empty stomach that caused my problems.

Just wondering why this is called 'carbonara'. A carbonara sauce has egg in it too. This is an alfredo. Otherwise it looks good.

It was 'ok'. If I make again I will use ham instead of bacon. Instead of Uncle Ben's rice I melted butter and minced 3 cloves of garlic and added this to my rice cooker.

Very delicious! I love it!

A bit too salty, next time I'll use less salt.

Everybody loved it.

Thank You! :)

My family LOVES this!!

This was an excellent recipe. We had it served over pasta shells rather than rice, and even my son, who won't eat any kind of sauce or condiment, gobbled it up. I love that the sauce was not exceptionally wet or overwhelming. It all blended well and each ingredient added it's own element to the taste and texture of the dish.

This was a wonderful dinner but it is very fatty. So I added half and half with a little flour instead of heavy whipping cream and no salt because when you add bacon there is enough salt and half of the bacon it calls for also to add a great flavor and alittle spice I added lemon zest on the top with red pepper. It was fantastic. Tyr it, it is alittle better for you this way. One other thing I did was add whole wheat angel hair pasta instead of rice. HUMMMM Happy Cooking!!!

It was great - if a bit plain - I added italian seasonings and marinated the chicken in italian dressing first.

We really enjoyed this recipe

Johni5Johni5 :  : review posted 2y 30w 6d ago.

This made a great meal. I made a few changes. Since most prepackaged foods are high in salt I made my own rice. Cooked a cup of brown rice in a cup of home made turkey broth (no salt added) 3 cloves of crushed garlic and 2 tbs of unsalted butter. Doing it this way I didn't find the meal salty. I will make it again and may try broccoli instead of peas next time.

RKG1RKG1 :  : review posted 2y 48w 6d ago.

Left out the peas, but you really need some kind of green vegetable, since this is a pretty heavy sauce. Taste was great, though, and couldn't have been too hard, since I'm a terrible cook.

Since I live in French Polynesia I had to use white rice and swiss cheese. This recipe was delicious even with my changes. Just Yummy!!

Added Mushrooms.. Family loved it..

This was good. I would add mushrooms to it next time. Also, I won't be making it w/ the rice. It would be much better with pasta. I'll probably use penne or linguini. Also, I'm going to cut the amount of bacon in half since that amount of bacon made for a very salty dish.

I've made this several times. Always a hit.

SunCookSunCook :  : review posted 3y 17w ago.

This was wonderful! It was salty. Next time, I will cut down on the amount of bacon I use. Also, I added mushrooms which were fantastic!

I made this last night for Dinner and it was absolutley awesome! My roommate loved it and there was just enough for leftovers (lunch) the next day. I will be making this dish again for sure! Thanks for sharing.

Tastes great and my husband loved it. It kept getting thicker as I tried to stall until family got home for dinner. I need to figure out where to stop and 'hold' before finishing up.

Everyone, kids included loved this recipe. There was a lot of rice and a lot of peas. I would probably cut down on both.

I made this recipe the other night and while I could not find uncle bens rices I found a substitute. It was quick, easy and tasty.

belleharris :  : review posted 4y 33w 1d ago.

So quick and easy to make, tastes terrific and looks good enough for company. I would cut back alittle on the cheese next time though.
