Ingredients

  • 1 box German Chocolate Cake Mix (baked according to package
  • directions
  • 5 Butterfing candy bars
  • 1 jar caramel ice cream topping
  • 1 can sweetened condensed milk
  • Cool Whip for topping
  • Chocolate Syrup

Preparation

Bake the cake according to package directions and in a 13 x 9 inch

pan. When it's done, and while it's still hot, punch holes in the

cake and pour the sweetened condensed milk over the top making sure

some of it sinks in the holes.

Do the same with the caramel ice cream topping.

Sprinkle on some of the broken candy pieces.

When it's cool, spread the Cool Whip topping on the top, and then

sprinkle the rest of the broken bars. Then drizzle more caramel all

over and then drizzle chocolate syrup all over in zig zags.

Hint! Put all your candy bars in the freezer. When you're ready to

use them, take them from the freezer. Leave the wrappers on and take

a mallet or a hammer and smash them inside the wrappers. Keep cool

until you need them.

Enjoy!!!

I tried it with a dark chocolate cake mix and it was yummy! Very easy recipe that tastes sinfully rich. Everyone at the office loved it and 3 asked for the recipe. I will definitely make this for my family.

The dumb milk is dumb dumb dumb.

What a waste

This cake is stupid. Every time I eat it, I feel dumb. Also, butterfing bars don't exist and butterfingER bars don't have carmel in them.

AT ALL.

Dumb!

This is a GREAT recipe...but I make it a little different.

I use Duncan Heinz DEVIL'S FOOD cake mix. It holds up better. I also only use ONE of the toppings, either caramel or hot fudge, and it is a very sweet cake. Great for a pot luck; since it's so sweet it goes further.

My version:

Make the Devil's Food cake as directed on box. While still warm take knife/fork and poke zillions of holes but not in a straight line! While warm, pour sweetened condensed milk over cake. Give it 10-15 mins. and pour warmed hot fudge in a criss-cross pattern over the cake. Cover cake until ready to serve. When ready to serve, spread 8oz. cool whip over cake, and sprinkle with 4 heath bars that have been smashed up with a hammer. Double bag the candy bars before smashing because the inner zip lock bag busts open.

Try this version and you will make it over and over. I've never had a guest tell me it was too sweet and everyone wants the recipe.

The flavor was WONDERFUL - everything was great EXCEPT, I don't think that a German Chocolate cake mix is the right cake to use. It wasn't substantial enough of a cake to "hold up" under the Eagle Brand milk and the caramel sauce. As it was cut it broke down more and more and just got really ugly really fast. The devil's food cake mix isn't as "soft" and would hold up better.

This was WAY too sweet - I wouldn't make it again. It was a great idea and I was excited to make this but just wasn't very good.

Use butterfingers and not other bar, other bars soften

A friend at work made this cake and it was great. I had to come straight home and get the recipe so I could make it my self.
