Maine Clam Chowder Ingredients

5 cups bottled clam juice 6 ounces 1 can clams undrained
1 cup of flour 4 medium potatoes diced cooked
1 cup onion finely diced1/2 cup milk
10 slices of cooked bacon chopped1/2 cup light cream
2 tablespoons margarine 1 teaspoon salt
8 ounces of cooked clams chopped Ground black pepper

Instructions for Maine Clam Chowder

Melt margarine and saut the diced onions until they appear translucent. Add bacon and flour to the melted margarine and stir continuously for 5 minutes.

Add clam juice and whisk into mixture. Stir constantly, breaking up any lumps that form.

Add clams, potato, milk, cream, and salt and continue stirring. Decrease heat to low, and allow to simmer for about 20 minutes, stirring frequently to avoid burning or sticking.

Serve hot with oyster crackers, adding black pepper to taste.
