Ingredients

Preparation

In large frying pan or electric skilled add olive oil and heat to medium high heat.

Mix one cup of flour with 1/2 cup bread crumbs and the seasonings.

Cut meat into serving size pieces and dredge in the seasoned flour mixture until well-coated.

Add coated meat to frying pan and brown on both sides for about 10 minutes each side. Turn temperature down to medium low -- aprox. 300.

Add sliced onions on top of browned meat, sprinkle can of mushrooms over onions and pour can of tomato sauce evenly over all.

If you want a little more flavor or zip to this recipe, you can add 1/2 teaspoon of red pepper flakes, 1/4 teaspoon of oregano and some fresh garlic in with the tomato sauce before you place on top of meat.

Cover pan and cook on medium low (approx. 275-300 degrees) for 1 hour. Meat will be very tender.

Serve with mashed potatoes or rice and a green vegetable or salad.

If you want more flavor, try adding 1/2 teaspoon red pepper flakes, 1/2 teaspoon of oregano and some fresh garlic. That should zip it up a notch. :)

The flavour just wasn't there with this one. Will likely go with some of my other Swiss steak recipes next time I'm in the mood for Swiss steak.
