Anita's Crockpot Lemon Chicken

One of my children's favorites. Throw everything in crockpot and forget it. Tender and delicious.

Ingredients

Preparation

Use 4-6 large chicken breasts or mixed chicken pieces - bone-in or out.

Put chicken in crockpot and Add 1+ cups of Lemon Juice mixed with 1/2 cup of Worcestershire Sauce. (I use RealLemon Brand lemon juice). If I have fresh lemons, I use the juice squeezed from 6 of them, which comes out to be about 1 cup, plus maybe 1/4 or so more, depending on your lemons.

Put the stick of butter on top of all.

Sprinkle 1/2 teaspoon Garlic Salt and some pepper on chicken.

Cover and cook on high for 6 hours or Low 10 hours.

This makes a wonderful lemon sauce that is great on rice or mashed

potatoes. The sauce is thin but it is still delicious. I've never tried thickening the sauce, but I don't imagine it would be difficult to achieve with a little flour the last hour or so of cooking.

This can also be made in the oven -- Cook in 275 degree oven for about 2.5+ hours and baste with the lemon sauce from the pan frequently -- about every 30 minutes.

Tender and delicious. My girls request this often.

At the risk of sounding negative.....yuck! The kids hated it. My husband and I had a hard time enjoying it. I am thinking I may have done something wrong! I used 1 cup lemon juice, 1/2 cup worchester and 1 stick of butter.....it had too much tang and and overwhelming worchester taste. I will try another recipe on this site, though. I am certain I will find plenty of things our family will enjoy.

I'd cut back on the lemon next time - it made our lips pucker!

Made this for Sunday dinner. I used 1/2 c. lemon juice and 1/2 c. chicken broth, but the lemon still seem to over power the chicken and was still a little too tart for my husband taste. Cooking time was a bit off, was finished in about 4 1/2 hours. It is a good recipe, just not to our taste.

I must have done something wrong, but none of us liked this recipe. I went back and looked it over again, but maybe something is missing from the recipe?

Excellent recipe. I made it with the 1/2 cup of lemon juice and that was perfect, I think with the full amount it would have definitely had a lot of pucker power. Served it over rice which I added broccoli to and cooked using chicken broth instead of water. Wonderful meal. Will definitely make again.

After reading through all of the great comments on this recipe, I made it last week and just like everyone else, I LOVED it! Thank you! Even my choosy stepdaughter who HATES rice and won't touch it with a ten-foot pole loved the liquid from this chicken and asked for a bowl of just rice and liquid because she wanted more of it. I did cut the amount of lemon juice in half based on the comments made by the other commentors and I thought it made it just perfect. I steamed rice and cauliflower and broccoli altogether, which was perfect with the chicken. After loving this recipe, we decided to try the ham bean soup, and loved that one too!!! I will be trying all of your other recipes - you're batting 100. :-)

This was so simple I just threw it all in crockpot and left for the day. I did use thighs instead of breast. Doing that I omited the butter. It was ok but I am sure the other way will be better. I just had to use what I had.

My family and I loved this recipe. However, it didn't take as long to cook in the crockpot. I cooked it on high for 4 1/2 hours and it was done. I added diced onions, and instead of garlic salt, I used Mrs. Dash's lemon pepper. My teenage sons raved about how good it was. This is a hit and will definitely be made again.

Great Tasting

I really liked this recipe, but I think I will alter the lemon juice from 1 cup to 1/2 cup next time. I did use all of the other ingredients called for in the recipe, but it was still a little tart for my tastes. I could substitute chicken broth, or maybe plain water, Im not sure yet.

I like this recipe, however after I was done, I used heavy cream to thicken the sauce and threw in some capers. Worked out well for the too thin "sauce" that the chicken was cooked in. Will probably make this one again and again!

Changed the garlic salt to 3 cloves of garlic, and added some onion and carrot to the pot (didn't have any other vegetables). I love a good sauce on steamed rice. Might try the chicken broth version next time, and that stuffed pepper looks good.

I used 1/2 cup lemon juice and 1/2 cup water.. That worked out better for taste.. Cooking times are off it seems, or my Crockpot cooks faster.. I did high setting and it was done in 4 hours or less... Next time I will set it for low and cook for 6 hours.

I cooked it in the oven. It was a little tart. Next time I will substitute half a cup chicken broth for half the lemon juice. Very tasty.

Nice one Webtexan, served with savory rice (packet) and red pepper stuffed with lemon Couscous, corriander and chedder cheese. Whole clove of garlic included in pot.
