Ingredients

Preparation

Saute beef, 1/2 tsp of red pepper flakes and 2 onions in large frying pan. Drain excess fat. Lots of onions makes this good.

Meanwhile, in another pan cook macaroni in boiling, salted water until

tender. (approximately 5 minutes for the smaller sized macaroni). Set aside until almost ready to serve.

When beef and onions are finished cooking, add the canned, crushed tomatores and approximately 1/2 cup water; also add garlic salt, pepper, chili powder and mix well.

Simmer for about 20 minutes; then add cooked macaroni noodles and mix well when ready to serve. If you add the macaroni noodles

too soon, they may over cook and get mushy.

This is one of my husbands favorite recipes from his mother when he was growing up -- it''s still a favorite today.

My husband and I both enjoyed this very much. Followed directions exactly as is.

Liked the recipe (especially my 15 y/o son) but the original recipe in my opinion calls for way too many onions. At most 1 1/2 onions as quite enough and there was way too much pasta to in the original recipe. Adding some shredded parmesan cheese on to really helped along with adding a few dashes of worcestershire sauce during the simmering of the sauce.

I've always loved goulash, especially on a cold and rainy autumn day. This dish is a good way to use up leftover burger patties. I just wished my family like goulash so that I could make it more often!

I am just starting to experiment cooking and I found this recipe extremely easy to follow. It came out great and I will surely make this again. The only thing I added was a fresh green pepper. Thanks!

THIS IS GREAT WITH SOME DURKEES HOT SAUCE STIRRED IN,SEASON TO TASTE. ALSO IF YOU SPRINKLE ON SOME MOTZ OR ITAILIAN SHREDDED CHEESE IT IS EVEN BETTER !!!!. I LEAVE THE CHILI POWDER AND RED PEPPER FLAKES OUT.

I, too, liked the diced tomatos, and added some sliced peppers & celery along with the onions & beef. Followed the rest of the recipe and enjoyed the results with gusto!

This is a great tasting goulash. I went a little heavy on the chile powder, added some garlic powder and a small can of mushroms. It came out very spicy and extremly tasty.

When I came across this recipe I got sooo excited - it brought back fond memories as my parents made this for me often when I was growing up. They both preferred it heated in the frying pan the following day but I always preferred it as soon as it was made. The photo looked exactly as I remembered it, however, when I followed this recipe I was slightly dissappointed. Only because the crushed tomatoes made more of a sauce. I think that using a can of diced tomatoes rather than crushed will work better for me and I believe that is what was used for the dish in the photo. I will definitely make this again with that one slight change. Thanks for the memories!

We make something very similar to this in my home. It's definitely something fast an easy, but another big plus is that it is amazingly inexpensive to make!

My husband and my 15 year old son loved this! My husband is kind of picky and didn't like similar dishes I've tried. So I was surprised when he went for thirds. I'm always happy to find such an easy and inexpensive meal I can whip up on a weeknight.
