Ingredients
- 1 pound lean ground beef
- 3/4 pound Italian sausage, mild or hot casing removed
- 2 md onions chopped
- 2 cloves Garlic minced
- 1 jar (26 oz) Tomato and basil pasta sauce or
- Spaghetti sauce with mushrooms
- 1 can (14 1/2 oz) diced peeled tomatoes
- 1 1/2 tablespoon dried basil
- 1/4 cup fresh basil chopped
- 1/2 cup heavy cream
- 3/4 pounds tagliatelle or fettuccine noodles cooked
Preparation
Crumble the beef and sausage into a large heavy skillet on top of the stove. Add the onions and cook over med-high heat, stirring occasionally, until the meat is well browned, about 8 min. Drain off excess fat. Transfer the meat mixture to a crockpot. Stir in the garlic, pasta sauce, tomatoes with their liquid, and dried basil. Cover and cook on low 4 to 4 1/2 hours. Stir in fresh basil and cream. Spoon the sauce over noodles and toss. Serve at once.
