Meat Pasta Sauce Ingredients

1 Onion (large) chopped2 teaspoon salt or to taste
2 can (12 oz) mushrooms or use 2 cups fresh mushrooms - sliced1 can (28 oz) Crushed tomatoes
1 clove Garlic 1/2 can (28) ounce Water to thin sauce as it boils
1 pound Ground beef 1 can (6 oz) Tomato paste
1 tablespoon Oregano

Instructions for Meat Pasta Sauce

Saute onion, mushrooms, and garlic until onion is wilted but not browned. Add Ground beef and half the oregano and salt and cook, stirring and breaking it up until all is well browned and cooked through. Add tomatoes, tomato paste, water, and remaining seasonings. Simmer at least 15 minutes or leave on low heat with a simmer ring for hours (stirring occasionally). You can also put the sauce in a slow cooker after it has come to a boil.

Ingredient Insight - look inside this recipe

I served this over whole grain (low carb) pasta. Threw in a few mixed vegetables to lower the overall carbs as well. It worked well for my diabetic diet.
