My late grandpa's pull taffy recipe. I have many fond memories of grandpa making this for us as kids. Lots of fun and kept us occupied (so he could watch the hockey game?)...

Pull Taffy Ingredients

1 cup sugar 1/2 teaspoon Baking soda cubed
1 cup Golden syrup grandpa always used Rogers brand

Instructions for Pull Taffy

Butter a jelly roll pan or platter. Mix sugar and syrup in an iron skillet and boil to medium hard ball stage. Add soda and stir in. Pour on to buttered platter. Cool until able to handle, then pull with cold floured or greased hands. (Taffy will go from deep gold to almost silvery white). Twist and cut with scissors.

This is a great activity for a winter evening to keep kids occupied. Cook and cool it then send them out on the porch (where it's cool) and have them pull it. They will eat a lot of it, but there will be some left. [I posted this recipe.]
