Tadka Dal Ingredients

1 cup Lentils (lal masoor)1/4 tsp Tumeric
2 cups Water 1/4 tsp Cayenne
1 ea Onion diced1 tsp Cumin seed
2 ea Green chili chopped1 tsp Fennel seed
1 ea Tomato medium, chopped1 pinch asafoetida powder
2 cloves Garlic sliced1 tblspoons Ghee
Salt to taste

Instructions for Tadka Dal

Boil lentils with onions, tomato, green chillies, garlic and turmeric powder till lentils soften and pulp. Add salt and stir well.

In a small frying pan, make tempering by heating ghee and frying cumin seeds, fennel seeds, cayenne and asafoetida powder till it all starts to sizzle.

Add tempering into dal and stir well.

Serve warm over rice.
