Perfect Corn on the Cob

A simple recipe that is a terrific side dish. Posted to the site as a RecipeLink anchor, since it's such a common summertime side dish.

Ingredients

  • Water

-- Optional Toppings --


Preparation

Husk corn, being sure to remove all strands.

Bring to boil an ample amount of water in a stock pot. Add corn, turn down to medium and make sure cover allows venting to prevent boil-over.

Boil for approximately 5-6 minutes. Take out of the water and serve hot.

Cyrano -- Good point! I completely agree, steaming the corn is even better. It just so happened this evening that the steamer big enough for it was in use (and the photo I took was of boiled corn).

If you would like even "Better" than "Perfect" corn, STEAM and not BOIL the corn. Much better taste. Less time to bring to boil.

I actually prefer white corn to yellow corn, but they were out of the white corn today at the market.
