I like to use a thin pasta for this such as small egg noodles, angel hair or linguine.
Cook the pasta in water as per package directions.
Cut the salmon filet into bite sized chunks while raw.
In a medium sized frying pan add the remaining ingredients except the cheese and salmon. Saute over medium heat until the onion is tender. Add the salmon and cook a few minutes more.
Drain the pasta and add to the salmon mixture. Slowly add most of the cheese and stir until melted. (Reserve about 1/4 of the cheese.) Add the mixture to an oven proof baking dish and top with remaining cheese.
Bake at 400 for about 15 minutes turning the broiler on the last few minutes to brown the cheese on top. Serve immediately.
