Foolproof Roast Turkey 4 POINTS Ingredients

1 20 pound whole turkey thawed2 each fresh thyme leaves
1 each garlic clove halved5 each sage leaves
1 teaspoon seasoned salt halved2 tablespoons olive oil
1 each onion quartered1/2 teaspoon pepper
1 bunch parsley sprigs small

Instructions for Foolproof Roast Turkey 4 POINTS

Arrange the oven racks to accommodate the turkey on the lowest rack. Preheat oven to 325. Remove the neck and giblets from the body and neck cavities and reserve for another use. Rinse the turkey and drain; pay dry with paper towels. Rub the inner cavities with the garlic and season with 1/2 teaspoon of season salt.

Place remaining garlic and the onion, parsley, thyme, and sage in the body cavities, and truss if desired.

Place the turkey breast side up on a rack in a large roasting pan. Brush all over with the olive oil and sprinkle with remaining 1/2 teaspoon seasoned salt and the pepper.

Roast, basting occasionally with the pan juices every 45 minutes, until an instant read thermometer inserted registers 180 degrees(or the red button pops out), about 3 hours. If the breast begins to brown too quickly, cover it with foil.

Transfer to a platter. Remove the garlic, onion and herbs from the cavity and discard. Cover loosely with foil and let rest 15-20 minutes before carving. Remove the skin before eating.
