Cream butter and sugar; set aside. Sift dry ingredients together in a separate bowl. Add dry mix to butter mix. Stir in milk. Pour into greased and floured 13x9 baking pan. Sprinkle with sugar and top with cherries. Bake at 350 degrees for 30-45 minutes or until brown on top.
