Classic Swiss Steak Ingredients

3 ea Carrots thickly sliced1 teaspoon Sugar
2 tablespoons Cooking oil divided1 teaspoon Oregano dried
1 pound Boneless steak or boneless 1 cup Chopped onion
Skinless chicken breasts 1 cup Chopped celery
1 can Diced tomatoes 14.5 oz1 can Drained mushrooms 4 oz
Undrained Cooked egg noodles brown
1 can Tomato sauce 8 oz Rice or mashed potatoes

Instructions for Classic Swiss Steak

In large skillet, saute carrots in 1 tb oil until crisp tender; remove and set aside. Cut meat into pieces and add to remaining oil in skillet. Cook until browned on both sides. Add tomatoes, tomato sauce, sugar and oregano; cover and simmer for 1 hour. Add onion, celery, mushrooms and carrots. Cover and simmer for 45 minutes or until meat and vegetables are tender.
