"olive Garden" Salad and Dressing

This salad with it's dressing is wonderfully authentic in taste to the salad served at the "Olive Garden" restaurants. The dressing recipe makes enough dressing to cover a large bowl of salad. I only use two thirds of the dressing, but use more according to your taste. I like to use homemade extra large croutons in this recipe.

Ingredients

Preparation

For the dressing:

Mix the first eleven ingredients in a blender until well mixed. If this is a little to tart for your own personal taste, add 1 Tablespoon of sugar.

For the salad:

Pour 1/2 package of the salad blend into a large salad bowl. Top with 1/2 of the onion, olives, banana peppers, croutons and tomatoes. Add dressing to taste and toss well. Add the other 1/2 bag of salad and more dressing to taste. Toss well. Top the salad with the remaining onion, olives, banana peppers, croutons and tomatoes. Pass the grated parmesan cheese and black pepper mill at the table.

The Olive Garden Salad is composed mostly of iceberg lettuce, julienne carrots, red onion and pepperocini peppers. I didn''t think it tasted like Olive Garden Dressing, but I did like the flavor.

DELICILOUS. I ate a 12oz. bag of salad alone so if you have several eating you might need to adjust the amount

A really close facsimile to the namesake. Made this for a dinner party and it was enjoyed by everyone. I used a packaged "italian" salad blend instead of the suggested american blend, and it was a prettier salad with a little more taste.

This is exactly the same as Olive Garden. The dressing is absolutely delicious. I did not have Romano this time, so I used Asiago. Fantastic!!! I am making a pasta bar get together this weekend and wanted a fantastic salad and I love this one always. Just happened to do a search and found "Big Oven." I love this site! I am not a trained chef but have skills and am cooking for a chef this weekend. I think I will be scoring big points!! Thanks!
