American Chop Suey

My mom fixed this when I was a little kid growing up in Massachusetts--I've never seen it anywhere but New England. Easy, filling, kids love it...and if you make it with Dreamfield's pasta, it's good for South Beach phase 2.

I made this for my husband and 2 kids and they loved it. I used corkscrew pasta and layered the chop suey on top. I added a sprinkling of mozzarella to the top and served with salad. Oh, I added a can of corn to bulk it up a bit. Kids loved it!

By cooking it in this way, the flavors get to blend all day. That's the point. Most people think American Chop Suey tastes better when the flavors blend--if you make it fast, like your method, people think it tastes better the next day, after it has had a chance to sit. By cooking it all day, you get better flavor. No, I'm not offended for you to ask about my method!

How can you actually cook this in a crockpot for that long period of time? 6 - 8 hours!! This is just a simple American Chop Suey dinner not in a crockpot - I have never heard of that before. I dont mean to offend you but this is a first for me. I always cook it separately then once everything is cook, I put it into a big pasta pan - just enough to add everything in one big pan and stir it altogether. It even smell good and was told it tastes good. Im just trying to understand your recipe, and how/or what's your preference of cooking.

Once again forgive me for offending you, I didnt mean no harm ok? I have cook most of my life and this is one of my most fave meal to cook.
