Melt crisco. Combine with semolina. Melt sugar and milk over low heat until sugar dissolved. Add to semolina mixture. Mix thoroughly. Bake at 275 for over an hour until golden. Combine rest of ingredients for syrup. Boil until clear. Pour over basbousa after it's done baking.
