Ashley's "dhal"

On top of rice or just a bowl to dip bread or naan in. A very tasty snack.

Ingredients

Preparation

In a medium pot; heat the oil on medium heat.

When oil is heated add onions; cook until onions are golden.

Add red chili powder, tumeric and musala; stir constently for about 3 minutes. Then add garlic, ginger and tomatoes; stir cover and let simmer for about 7 minutes. If you find that it is sticking to the bottom add tiny bits of oil. (Sometimes I add tiny bits of butter, it mixes well with cream later on).

While that is cooking wash the lentil really well, add them to the mixture.

Fry everything together for about 8 minutes; add water, stir, cover then cook for 25 minutes. Stir it once in a while.

Near the end add the cream.

Cuisine: Indian Main Ingredient: Lentil

I use a lot more chile powder then the recipe says. Or I add one chopped green chile. I also sometimes boil some eggs, cut them in half and put them in my bowl of dhal. Full of protein :)
