Ingredients

  • 9 apples assorted kinds
  • 2 Pie Crust
  • 1 cup sugar
  • 1 teaspoon cinnamon
  • 0.25 teaspoon nutmeg
  • 0.25 teaspoon cloves
  • 1 Lemon juice- keeps apples from turning brown
  • 1 egg yolk
  • 1 tablespoon water
  • 1 flour- for crust and dish

Instructions

Preheat the oven to 425 degrees. Slice, peel and core the 9 apples in a large bowl. Mix the lemon juice in with the apples as you cut them. Combine sugar, cinnamon, nutmeg, and cloves in a small bowl. Mix about 3/4 of the mixture with the apples (best if you use your hands). Coat the bottom of a deep pie dish with flour. Put a little more flour on top of the crust and fill with apple mixture. then evenly distribute the rest of the sugar mixture over the top of the pie. Put the second pie crust on top. Mix the egg yolk and water together and lightly brush it onto the top off the pie. Put the pie in the oven for 15 minutes. Then turn the temperature down to 325 degrees and let it bake another 20 minutes.

Ashley's Apple Pie Reviews[add comment]

My family loves this pie and we go through it in about 2 days. I am 13 and make it every once in a while. Also don't forget to put some little holes on the top crust. [I posted this recipe.]
