Apple Crisp

This apple crisp is a favorite in our household and I'm sure once you try it you will agree. Oh, and don't forget the vanilla ice cream or whipped topping!

Preparation

Preheat oven to 375 degrees F. Place the sliced apples in an 8 or 9-inch baking pan. Sprinkle with water and lemon juice.

In a small bowl, combine the remaining ingredients until crumbly. Sprinkle the crumbly mixture evenly over the apples.

Bake at 375 degrees for 40-45 minutes or until apples are tender.

I didn't realize the apples would reduce so much, so mine is a little crust-heavy, but still very good

I really liked this recipe. Using sugar only in the topping (and not on the apples, too) really showcased the flavor of the apples, which I find sometimes get lose in overly sweet apple crisps.

I only used four large Gala apples. My pan was filled over the top with apple slices at that point, so I stopped with four. I also used double the amount of oatmeal called in this recipe.
