Dumplings:
Sift flour into basin, rub in butter.
Combine syrup & milk (I usually heat a little in the microwave)
Make well in centre of dry ingredients & gradually stir in milk mixture.
Stir until combined thoroughly - do not over beat. Mixture should be moist & sticky
Sauce:
Combine butter, sugar, syrup, water & lemon rind in a heatproof dish & cover with tight fitting lid
Microwave on full power for 6 mins - stirring occasionally to dissolve sugar
Combine:
With floured hands, roll the dumpling mixture into balls & place into boiling sauce.
Cover the mixture loosely & microwave on full power 3-4 mins or until dumplings are well risen & firm.
Serve immediately.
