Ingredients

  • 13 cups clean fat
  • 1/4 cup borax
  • 1 can Lye
  • 2 1/2 cups soft water

Preparation

Heat fat slowly until melted and cooled to 110 degrees. Add borax. Stir constantly. Dissolve lye in water and cool to 85 degrees. Pour the lye into fat in a thin steady stream stirring slowly. Stir until it looks like honey. Pour into any mold either bought or homemade. Cover and keep warm for 24 hours. Remove and cut into desired shapes. Wait 2 weeks before using.
