Ingredients
- 1 lb hamburg or ground beef
- 1 green pepper chopped
- 0.25 cup minced onion
- 3 cloves of minced garlic
- 1 cup of chunky salsa (hotter the better!)
- 2 packages of macaroni and cheese dinner mix
- 2 cups crushed tortilla chips
- 1 cup Monteray Jack cheese
- 1.5 cups milk
- 0.25 cup butter
- 1 can black olives sliced
Preparation
Prepare the macaroni and cheese according to directions on the package. While cooking, butter a fry pan and brown minced onion and minced garlic. Stir in hamburg and cook until no longer red. Drain, and set back on the stove and add the salsa and green pepper. Mix in until warm, and set aside. Drain cooked pasta and add cheese packet(s) contents along with milk and mix.
Preheat the oven to 325 degrees.
Spread mixed macaroni and cheese into a baking dish, adding a layer of the hamburg mixture, crushed tortilla chips, and layer the top with a healthy sprinkling of cheese with olives (picture not prepared with olives). Bake for 15-20 minutes in the oven until cheese melts and food thoroughly heated through.
