preheat oven to (190 degrees C / 375 degrees F). Lightly grease 2 trays of 12 medium sized muffin tins.
Sift the flour & baking powder into a large bowl & add the sugar & bran. Mix well.
Melt the butter in a saucepan over medium heat, then add the buttermilk & eggs & whisk until combined. Mix the wet with the dry & add the fruit (don't worry if it goes a bit lumpy, or purple from the blueberries) & gently stir through with a large spoon.
Put into a jug & pour the mixture into the centre of every hole in the muffin tins until there's less than 1/2 centimeter / 1/4 inch. Bake for 25-30 minutes or until browned.
When cooked sift icing sugar on top of muffins, cut in half & put butter on each half when still warm.
