Apple Rum Cake Ingredients

CAKE2 tb Hot water
1/4 c Shortening 1 ts Vanilla
1 c Sugar 1/2 c Chopped nuts
1 Egg 2 1/2 c Apples; pared and cubed
1/4 ts Salt RUM SAUCE
1 ts Cinnamon 1/2 c Butter
1 ts Nutmeg 3/4 c Brown sugar
1 ts Baking soda 1/4 c Cream
1 c Flour 1/2 ts Rum-flavored extract OR; 1-2

Instructions for Apple Rum Cake

Cake - Cream together shortening and sugar. Add remaining cake ingredients through apples in order listed. Mix well. Pour into greased, 9-inch round cake pan or pie plate. Bake at 350 degrees for 45-60 minutes. Rum Sauce - Melt butter. Add brown sugar and boil 1 minute. Add cream and boil a few more seconds. Remove from heat and stir in rum extract or rum.
