Suggest a better descriptionCream shortening, sugar. Add eggs one at a time. Sift dry ingredients. Mix applesauce and corn syrup. Add dry ingredients and aplesauce. Add raisins and nuts. Bake in 12 x 9 inch pan for 1.5 hours at 300 degrees. Serve with Carmel Sauce (instructions below) CARMEL SAUCE: Mix milk and water in pan. Add sugar and flour, nutmeg and cook until thick (5 minutes). Add vanilla and butter. Serve warm over top of cake.
