1 1/2 c
SUGAR
2 ts
CREAM
OF TARTAR
1/2 c
MARGARINE
1 ts
BAKING SODA
1/2 c
SHORTENING
1/4 ts
SALT
2
EGGS
3 tb
SUGAR
2 3/4 c
FLOUR
3 ts GROUND
CINNAMON
Instructions for Snickerdoodles (Gold Medal)
HEAT OVEN TO 4000 F. MIX 1 1/2 SUGAR, THE MARGARINE, SHORTENING AND EGGS IN A LARGE BOWL. STIR IN FLOUR, CREAM OF TARTAR, BAKING SODA AND SALT. SHAPE INTO BALLS, USING ROUNDED TEASPOONFULS OF DOUGH. MIX CINNAMON AND THREE TABLESPOONS OF SUGAR. ROLL BALLS IN MIXTURE. PLACE ABOUT 2" APART ON UNGREASED BAKING SHEET. BAKE UNTIL SET, ABOUT 8 TO 10 MINUTES. REMOVE FROM BAKING SHEET IMMEDIATELY. I actually spent more time on the recipe than called for because after mixing all of the ingredients, I chilled the cookie dough for about 45 mins. I find this makes it much easier to handle, though the recipe did not call for it. So, you could lessen the "start-to-finish" time by 45 mins if you didn't refrigerate the dough. My family LOVED the cookies, and we're adding it to our Family Cookbook! Thanks!
