Herb and Spice Blends (Makes 1/3 Cup of Each Blend) Ingredients

2 lb Stew beef, cubed	2 tb Freeze-dried chives
3 1/2 qt Water	FOR FRUIT PIE
1 Onion, chopped	FOR Spice Cakes and
1 tb Salt	2 tb Ground cinnamon
1/2 ts Thyme	1 tb Ground nutmeg; 1
1/2 c Split peas	1 tb Ground mace
6 Carrots, sliced	1 tb Ground allspice
3 c Celery, diced	2 ts Ground cloves
1 Green pepper, diced	2 ts Ground cardamom
3 Medium tomatoes, cubed	FOR VEGETABLES
1 1/2 c Corn	2 tb Dried thyme
2 Onions, sliced	2 tb Dried oregano
1 Large potato, cubed	2 tb Dried basil
1 c Spinach, chopped	FOR CHICKEN
1 c Green beans, chopped	2 tb Curry powder
1 c Green peas	2 tb Paprika
1 c Lima beans	2 tb Dried lemon rind
1 c Ketchup	FOR TOMATO SAUCE
2 tb Parsley, chopped	2 tb Crumbled basil
FOR BEEF	2 tb Dried minced onions
1 tb Coarsely ground black pepper	1 tb Red pepper flakes
1 tb Red pepper flakes	1 tb Crumbled dried oregano
2 1/2 tb Garlic powder	FOR LAMB
1 tb Dried minced onions	1 1/2 tb Dried marjoram
FOR FISH	1 tb Crumbled dried rosemary
2 tb Dried dillweed	1 tb White pepper
2 tb Crumbled bay leaves	2 tb Garlic powder

Instructions for Herb and Spice Blends (Makes 1/3 Cup of Each Blend)

To present as gifts, pack mixes into small jars with lids and labels. Tie jars onto a cookbook filled with herb and spice recipes. Herbs will keep for 6 months, tightly closed, in a cool, dry place.
