A Victorian cake recipe that is truly exceptional. The perfect cake to take to gatherings...it's easy, freezes well, serves many, and it doesn't actually contain any hummingbirds!
Cinnamony Breakfast Pull Apart Bread. A real crowd pleaser!
These are the smoothest, most delicious cookies. And, they're easy to roll and cut, as they don't stick like many others. The difference is that they're made with powdered sugar rather than confectioner's sugar. Perfect for Christmas, kid's birthday parties, etc.
Doesn't taste like diet food! Cooling, tasty and fewer cals than other Key Lime contenders. I have made this over and over, as it is always popular.
I copied this recipe from an old Better Homes and Gardens Cook Book back in the early '60s. I've tried numerous other versions over the years but always fall back on this one -- it is the best!!!
Very easy to make and little washing up
The original recipe taught me by my mother and her cousin called for the addition of Parmesan cheese stirred into rice mixture after the chicken broth had been absorbed. This creates a slightly creamy flavor, detracting (in my opinion) from the delicate Saffron flavor. I prefer the taste of Saffron to that of cheese. Both versions are quite good.
This is much better than the supermarket version. Hot from your oven with some cold yogurt it's like heaven on your tongue.
The best, richest scalloped potatoes you've ever tasted.
