Has anyone used the Big Oven software to create a cooking day plan for once-a-month cooking? Any tips?
What is freezer burn, and what's the best way to prevent it?
I have always wondered - is it safe to re-freeze food? For instance, if I use frozen chicken from the freezer, and have left-overswhich I freeze, is it safe to eat these chicken left-overs on some other day?
Hello, I made a huge twice baked potato casserole. How do I freeze, tupperware? Also, what method do you use to rehead? Any advise would be appreciated.
I take spells that all I want to do is bake. On these occasions, I fill my freezer with homemade rolls, french bread, hamburger and hotdog buns, cinnamon rolls, cookies and cakes. I usually make the cakes and leave the frosting off to add when we are ready to eat them. Being just my hubby and I, I layer the rolls, buns, and cookies in long plastic containers with wax paper between the layers making it easy to get out just what we will eat at a given time. Hope this is helpful.
I just received my copy of Don't Panic, Dinner's in the Freezer, by Susie Martinez, Vanda Howell, and Bonnie Garcia. Looks really good. The book tells you how to basically prep the ingredients for the freezer, and then you cook it on the day you are going to eat it. They provide ingredient lists for various multiples of each recipe, along with some helpful tips and ideas. I see they even have my Mom's old standby, Cranberry Chicken in the book. Our guests always raved about that dish, and it is easy as can be to fix. I've linked the recipe to this group, and the freezing instructions are in the notes. I think this is one "cookbook" that's going to live in my kitchen, where I can get my hands on it at all times. :) Anne

Well this is nifty! I am getting into MAH ( Make -A- Head ) cooking not ready for OAMC . My husband and I got a HUGE stand alone freezer this summer and I want to fill it :D So if anyone had tips , that would be great!
Mine's really empty right now, but I'd love to get some ideas for foods and menus that freeze well and could be prepared ahead and just reheated. I find that being retired is keeping me busier than when I had a real job, so it would be great after a busy day to just pop my dinner in the nuke or oven. :) Anne
