This is a long-time family favorite. I remember making this when I was about 12 years old. It's a terrific Caesar Salad recipe -- the only drawback is that it makes the creamy kind you often get in a restaurant seem just not that great any more.
If you enjoy Tex-Mex this is Incredible!
If there's one dish you've probably said to yourself you need to eat more often, it's a simple, fresh tossed salad. Here, fresh ingredients make all the difference in the world. This is a dish you really don't need a recipe for. But I'm posting here for RecipeLink ease, and inspiration/discussion. By all means, go ahead and post any side dish to BigOven, no matter how simple, so we can mix and match to make meals!
Looks fancy for company but is super easy. This also works really well as a chopped salad. I make the chopped when it's just us.
A delicious Southern twist on the classic BLT sandwich...using fried green tomatoes instead of ripe red ones. The tartness of the green tomatoes and their crisp crunch works well with the bacon. For even more taste, I sometimes use pepper bacon and/or use arugula, who's peppery flavor mates extremely well with the saltiness and crunch of the bacon and the spicy coating of the tomatoes. Double-breading the tomato slices gives them a crunchy coating. Soaking the tomatoes in hot water draws out their moisture, which helps keep them crisp when cooked. On their own, the fried green tomatoes in this recipe are a classic Southern side dish...
An easy, elegant appetizer or light main course. Savory, soy-flavored chicken is spooned into individually wrapped lettuce shells.
