This recipe is SO GOOD! It makes ALOT! I usually freeze half for another meal. You can also use reduced-fat and low-sodium ingrediants.
A great make ahead breakfast!
Very tasty and healthy pancakes for the hungriest crowd.
Say goodbye to Aunt Jemima, once you taste these homemade pancakes I think you'll agree they're much better than the boxed kind! Add a bit of vanilla or fruit (frozen blueberries work well) to make them extra special. If you want, mix up the dry ingredients in advance and give it away as a gift (with instructions on how to finish making the pancakes) or just store it for even quicker pancakes on Sunday mornings.
My moms recipe.
My wife is an elementary school teacher, and also a pretty serious night-owl. Bad combination come 7:30am in the morning, when she often has to rush out the door. We rarely use the microwave for our own meals, but find it very helpful when pressed for time. Here, then, is her simple recipe for a high-protein, high-fiber start to the day.
A classic southern cooking tradition -- spoonbread is typically known as a pudding-like bread that is eaten with a spoon, hence the name. My families delicious variation on spoonbread is a cross between cornbread and a souffle. It's light, yet rich and creamy. It uses whole-grain yellow cornmeal for maximum corn flavor, fine-ground cornmeal for a light and tender texture, and egg whites that have been beaten until stiff for lift. This surprisingly easy to make, tasty comfort food is the perfect accompaniment to any meal, and is especially good served alongside any braised meat smothered in gravy, spicy dishes and barbecues. It's great for breakfast, lunch, or dinner. And, when leftovers are warmed up in the microwave with just a dab of real butter and a grind of fresh black pepper, it makes for a perfect snack.
This is a great meatloaf, perfect for sandwiches.
This recipe has been handed down three generations from my husband's grandmother.
