Big Oven logo on recipe cards

Is there anyway to remove the logo?

When I go to print it creates a space and forces the program to go to a second

page.

Re: BOP

I can't seem to get BOP v6 to work.  Could this be because I am using Word 2002?

words are cutoff when printing

When I print a recipe the text is so close to the left side of the page that some letters get cut off.  How do I fix this?

Printing on 3 x 5 cards

Several discussions on this but I am still a bit confused. My confusions are:

1) No matter what I try to do with BigOvenI don't seem to be able to stop a printing of a recipe that takes two sides of a 3 x 5 card in the middle. Some have said put a page break, but I only know how to do that if I copy over the recipe to Word. However, then it doesn't fit on a 3 x 5 card no matter what I make the page settings for Word. (Width is OK but not heigth.)

2) I thought when I changed IE's page setting BigOven should work, but again, the whole recipe shows as one page in the print preview, and the I cannot print the first side and then turn over and print the second side. This would work in Word if each BigOven 3 x 5 became one Word 3 x 5, but most become two if there are several lines on what BigOven thinks of as one 3 x 5.

3) The tool referenced in some of the topics prints 4 x 6. Can this be made to easily print 3 x 5 cards. This might be a good solution if I cannot find another.

To summarize I am trying to print recipes that fit on two 3 x 5 cards. I want to print one half on a card and flip it over and print the other half on the back. What is the best way to do this? Seems like something a lot of people would like to do.

print 4 x 6 cards

how can I print 4 x 6 cards with the ingredients  on one side and the instructions on the other side?

Many Ways to Print Recipes

There are lots of ways to print individual recipes or whole cookbooks.

Bigoven-supported printing
  • Bigoven Print Use bigoven's Print button.  Choose from 7 recipe themes  search BigOven help for more on "printing" and "recipe themes", and try the "3x5" and "4x6" printing options.
  • Professional Printing  BigOven has partnered with SharedBooks to get your recipes professionally printed and bound.  Looks like it would make a beautiful gift.
BigOven printing unsupported tricks
Other Software
  • Word Processors like WORD are great places for you to copy your recipes, format them, and put the page breaks where you like.
  • BOPtool  is a WORD 2003 template with buttons and macros I created to make it easy to format BigOven recipes into a cookbook or a box of 4x6 cards.  I use it all the time.  BOPtool is free for anyone who wants to use it or improve it.

Printing cards

I am very interested in printing my recipe cards or even in booklet form for my grandchildren.  I would like to be able to customize my cards more (I only have the starter version).  How could I put from Nanamac's Kitchen and remove Big Oven graphic?  Or other suggestions that would be helpful are appreciated.

Printing a cookbook

I would like to print my own cookbook.  I've tried downloading the BOP file but am having errors.  Is this the only way to print one myself?

print list of recipe titles

I can't seem to find out how to print a page of just the list of my recipesan alphabetical list of the recipes. Thanks!

Blue Bar Recipe Theme

Stewlis created a new custom recipe theme based on recipetheme2.
It's like the red bar theme, but it is blue.
Get it at http://groups.google.com/group/RecipePrintingTools

And please upload all your favorite custom recipe theme files to
share.

I can't seem to find the toolbar in Word 2007?

I have followed the instructions, all the way until pasting some recipes. Then it's time to use the "toolbar" and I can't find it. I really hate Word 2007, and I'm not sure if that has anything to do with the problem. Suggestions? Thanks :)

BOPtool for WORD -- print cookbooks at home using WORD

I created BOPtool this winter because I wanted to print a cookbook, in several sections, with a table of contents.  I wanted it to make efficient use of paper and bookshelf space.  I wanted it in time for the Christmas Cooking season.  I knew that the next version of BigOven was a ways off, and Lakefront software had not yet announced professionally-printed BigOven cookbooks.

So I created a Big Oven Print tool for WORD.  BOPtool is a WORD template with a toolbar for formatting BigOven recipes.  Anyone can download it from the Recipe Printing Tools group at Google Groups.

Welcome -- Sharing Tips and Files

Welcome to the Printing Recipes and Cookbooks discussion group.  Here is where bigoven users can share our favorite tips and tricks for getting the most from printed cookbooks.

If you need technical support from BigOven staff, you can go to the Official BigOven Help Center.

Here, we can discuss ways to get more out of printing from BigOven, as well as for doing unsupported things like modifying recipe themes and even using WORD to print recipes and cookbooks.  I've set up a place to share files.  It's a Google group.  You can download any file you find there.  If you join the Google group, you can upload your own files.

page setup

Is it possible to keep the page setup changes I make to print my index cards?  My printer does not support 4x6 index cards, so I change the margins on letter paper.  That way I can print the cards.  The only problem is that with this program I need to change the settings with every card I print.  I am using the trial version, and if I can solve this problem, I will be buying the program.
Thanks,
Karen

Drag your photos from bigoven to WORD

Matt Sawyer's message just got my thinking, and I realized how easy it is to drag photos from bigoven into WORD.

When you use BOPtool to print your recipes in WORD, you use bigoven's "Copy Recipe Text" feature, which doesn't include photos.  So start by using the three quick steps in the BOPtool instructions to get your recipes formatted nicely.

Then, to get a photo, go back to BigOven, click the "view" tab and click on the name of one of your recipes.  Click on the photo, keep holding down the mouse button, and drag that photo right out of BigOven and into WORD.  When you are pointing to where you want that picture to go, let go of the mouse button to drop a copy of the picture into your document.  It's that easy.

Looking forward to publishing

[edited March-14-2008]

Looking forward to publishing

I am stinkin' stoked about having this option. I originally bought this program to organize my grandmother's recipes and she pasted. I wanted them to be put into a book, but the current method of exporting creates a table-structure, which makes it difficult to do. This is a big step to BigOven, way to go!

Professionally-printed books -- coming soon

We're pleased to announce that in a matter of weeks, you should be able to order your own professionally-printed and bound books from BigOven.com as well as the desktop software starting at less than $40 apiece, including shipping.  We'll have much more to say about this great cookbook-printing service when it goes live, but if you'd like us to let you know when it launches, please pre-register here.  Thanks, and happy cooking!
