Hey you guys and gals,

We're showing 113 members as of this morning, so where are you all hiding?  C'mon out of lurkdom.  This weight loss thing (and maintenance) takes a village, not just one or two people, if we're going to be successful, so c'mon out, post a hello, and tell us how we can help YOU!!

As for me, after several weeks of ignoring the scale, I finally weighed in this morning, and I'm happy to say I'm now down a total of 12 pounds.  Not a huge amount (since September 18) by any means, but progress none the less, so I'm a happy girl.  There was a brief spell there where the iron beast (or plastic in this case) was going in the wrong direction.

Our Thanksgiving here in the U.S.A. is Thursday.  Even though it's my favorite holiday of them all, for this year, I'm going to treat it as if it's just another day.  Do you have a strategy in place?

I had a whopping .2lb loss on Wednesday  . I'm starting to hate how accurate the CalorieKing Nutrition and Exercise Manager software is. It tells me each day how much i'll lose in the month. All the things I count as 0 points throughout the day with WW Online do add up in calories. I am using both. 12lbs is fantastic! Very soon you will be in Onederland.

Been there done that (my Canadian Thanksgiving). Even though I stuffed myself it was a lot less than I would normally have had. Turkey is even lower in points than chicken breast. It's all the extras that are loaded in points stuffing, gravy, mashed potatoes, cranberry sauce, desserts and alcohol. I cut out the gravy, alcohol and dessert. I made a crustless pumpkin pie for later that week. At 1 point for 1/8 of pie it's great. This time of year makes me crave pumpkin. That fixed my craving.

Anne or anyone else Would you know what changes WW are about to make with their plan? I've heard rumors of exciting changes in 2nd week of December. I don't know if US made changes before Canada. The last major changes in the points target happened in December '06.

Diane, I don't know about any changes, but WWs tends to do this every year or two.  The basic program seems to stay the same, with minor variations.  For instance, my all time favorite program was the old 1-2-3, but they then changed it and got rid of the banked points (which seemed to confuse some people), and that's when the 35 extra weekly points kicked in.  It came out to the same thing, but made it easier I guess.  The other change had to do with fiber.  Back in the day, we didn't have that 4 gram per cap that they have now.  When I calculate most items that have more, for the most part, the points are coming out the same.  I think an item would have to really have a huge amount of fiber for it to make much difference in points.  Of course, another big change from 1-2-3 is when they added the core program, but I've never had much success with that.

So, let's wait and see what they come up with now.  Should be interesting to see.

Now, as for you young lady, no frowny faces at that .2 pound loss.  You're at a point where it's going to creep off, no matter how much you want it gone faster.  Approaching 100 pounds gone is just sooooooo awesome, so instead of being unhappy at a tiny little loss (those will add up you know), think back to where you've been, and where you are now!!  THAT'S what counts now!!  The rest will come.  Just have patience.

Before the 4g fibre cap some people were adding stuff like Benefibre (sp?) to lower their points. Add enough fibre to those chocolate sundays to make it 0 points is a laugh. The things that people will do to cheat the point system is amazing. Then they wonder why it's not working.

Actually, I do know what I have to do have better losses but it's foods I can't live without. And a lifestyle is what I can live with! I have to increase my Protein and decrease my Sodium and Carbs. Not eliminating them just lowering them. CalorieKing has me at 126g Carbs, 106.5g Protein and 25g Fibre daily. I'm averaging about 70g Protein  and 35g Fibre daily. Yesterday I had 232.6g Carbs! Day before was 298.4g Carbs! I can't even admit to the amount of Sodium. Even though I was ok on my WW Points I do understand my losses.

I just downloaded the free trial of that program today.  Haven't had a good look yet, but from what I've seen, I'm impressed.  Won't be able to buy it for awhile though....  I'm totally broke until after my trip to Costa Rica in January.

Thanks for telling us about it though.  It's certainly easy enough to use.

Thanksgiving is definitely my favorite holiday too. It's going to be a struggle, but I am going to make all my stuff low-fat and hope that helps.  My job is having an incentive over the holidays also.  We weigh in this week and on January 5th weigh in again and if we maintain or lose any weight over the holidays we are eligible for gift cards and other prizes.
