Since I totally reject the title of Sr. Citizen, can an over the hill kid join this group? Aside from wanting kid friendly recipes for when my fussy grandkids come to visit (not very often unfortunately), I myself love what most kids love (chicken nuggets, and mac and cheese). Hey, we do have to feed our inner child, don't we? Anne
Thanks Pete, I posted the recipe for the yummy yogurt pie, and it's so simple to make (and delicious). My granddaughter will be 7 next week, but she was doing this one alone at age 5 (with supervision of course). The only help she needed was with lifting the bowl to scoop out the filling into the pie crust. The best part, for busy working parents (or even grownup children) is the whole thing takes just a few minutes to toss together, and then just let it set up in the fridge for at least a couple of hours or more. One of the Christmas presents for our (4-Y-O) Granddaughter is a simple cookbook in which we've pasted pictures of family members, including her) in the kitchen. We also put together 4 "kits" of premeasured ingredients and Kid-Friendly instructions for muffins with sprinkled toppings. Each one is 2 or 3 bags and a sheet with pictures of other (wet) ingredients to guide her. She's already got two matching aprons, one matches Mom the other matches Dad which she wears when she's "helping".
Wow Pete. What a great idea for the little one. And the best gift you're giving her is the gift of learning to cook good, healthy foods (we know you!!). Of course, at this age, she doesn't need to know that part, just that she's learning to cook, and she's having fun doing it. What great habits to teach at a very young age. I hate to plan things a year in advance, but I may have to keep your idea on the front burner, as I'm thinking of heading to NY next Christmas. I really missed not being with the kids this year. Anne
