Anyone have any dessert ideas?

I enjoyed incredibly delicious poached pears that my friend Paul made the other night.  His family is joining ours this holiday weekend and I'm trying to convince him to make it again (and post the recipe!). 

Here's the recipe for the Poached Pears with Mascarpone.  Delicious.

 I will be making my special pumpkin pie; I might post the recipe soon but I haven't decided if I want to hang on to my special secrets. I will also make pumpkin cheesecake (yummy) and pumpkin gooey cake which is a Paula Deen creation that I recently discovered.  The poached pears look delicious.  I have always wanted to try them.  I think fried or baked apples are always good dessert alternative for non-pumpkin people (who must be insane.)
