Subject: Help us decide: Do Bars count as Cookies?

< previous topic  next topic >

One of the long-running debates at our annual cookie party:  "Do bars (e.g., lemon bars) count as cookies?"  What's your opinion?

They do, if you call them cookie bars.

Anne

I think that bars are considered cookies. I just view them as a smaller category under the overall cookie idea. They just add an extra variety to something like your cookie party. And like Anne said, just call them cookie bars. :-)

My old Good Housekeeping Illustrated Cookbook has several cookie categories
  1. Bar cookies (including brownies, shortbread, etc)
  2. Drop cookies
  3. Molded cookies
  4. Pressed cookies
  5. Refrigerator cookies
  6. Rolled cookies

If you can sell them to raise money for charity, they count.  Whatever sells is to be encouraged, right?

I think they count as cookies, but maybe only some of them do

Bars are cookies, just cut in squares rather than the normal round cookie we think of.Doesn't matter, bars, cookies they're all good!!
