Hi y'all. I just joined a few days ago and must say I love the site. I am really enjoying checking out all the recipes.
I took my first photos of food, not something I thought I would ever do. But, it was a ton of fun. Cooking something I posted, arranging it on my counter, snapping several shots. My biggest problem is choosing the one I like best, it takes as long as cooking the recipe! Ok, just kidding.
Any tips or tricks to getting just the right shot would be more than welcome.
I look forward to talking with y'all in the near future. Thanks
Stef
Welcome Steffie! I look forward to trying the recipes you're posting.
Hello Stef,
Welcome to the group. I agree photographing food to its best advantage is an art unto its own. I own an Entertaining web home, MemorableEntertaining.com and currently do all my own photography. It has been one of my biggest challenges - making the picture look as good at the actual thing!
Look forward to seeing more of your pictures and sharing recipes.
Bon Appetit!
Debra
Food photography is a lot of fun. When you really get into it you start making dishes just so you can present them nicely and take cool pictures. I wound up taking a class in food styling and reading a large pile of books on the topic. It took awhile, but eventually got fairly good at shooting individual dishes. I haven't gotten serious enough yet that I shoot entire tablescapes. But there's always the possibility that i might.
I am working with a local chef who is self publishing a cookbook. She teaches me presentation tricks and I teach her how to get better pictures. Then we eat the evidence.
Thank you for your welcomes and replies. =D Eating the evidence! That is so funny.
Hi Promfh. Actually yesterday, I had posted two sweets recipes. I was looking at my page and it looked so bare. I made the no bakes and the cinnamon apple crisp just so I could add pictures to the recipes. And I just started a few days ago. I almost hate to think what I'll be doing after more time. But, we do have sweets to eat, so it's ok. I looked through a bunch of your photos, awesome. I hope to be half as good someday.
Hi Debra, It's nice to meet you. I went and checked out your web site for a little bit. I'll have to register so I can check it out more. Looks like a very nice spot on the web. Loads of info.
Nice to meet you too, Admin. I see you're in Seattle too! Man, hasn't the weather been DRY lately? It's unreal, I almost need to water my lawn.
I look forward to getting to know y'all and trying some of your wonderful recipes. Thanks again.
