Subject: Presentation, Minimal vs. Fancy

When you're setting up a dish to photograph which style to you subscribe to?
1. Minimalist Here's the food, served unadorned.

2. Artistic I've arranged the plate to look like an art piece. It might not be how you'd really serve it.

3. Realist Here's the food as actually served, along with accompaniments.

I'm not saying any version is better/worse, just what version to you like and/or what version do you usually do when you're shooting recipe pictures.

I guess I find the minimalist approach best suited to my meager photo skills.

After reading some of the articles the site listed regarding professional food photography, I was excited about trying some "accessories" that would enhance the food presentation.
