Let myself slide

Hi,

I was doing so well on WW. I was up to a 92lb loss which was end of July last year. I was 8lbs from goal weight. Then vacation hit August '08. I ate everything in site. It's so easy to gain. Between that vacation then Thanksgiving, Christmas, Valentine's Day, Birthday and Easter I gained lots on each with tiny losses between resulting in me being 16lbs heavier than end of July '08. I refuse to let myself slide further. I've started Jillian Michaels No More Trouble Zone DVD. It's tough but I can do it! I'm tracking every BLT. I will lose that 16lbs plus the last 8 and get to goal.

Whole Wheat or Brown Rice Homemade Pasta Recipe?

Hello, Ladies! Have any of you tried to make whole wheat or brown rice fresh pasta? I'd like to try this, however can't find a recipe anywhere. Just don't know if I can follow a "regular" pasta recipe and substitute ww or br flour in the recipe, or if changing flours requires other adjustments. Any ideas?

Good Recipes

I am always looking for a good recipe.  Any one have a good WW dessert recipe?

Red Beans & Rice

I've posted another recipe tonight and this one has a picture with it. I worked out a recipe that cuts down on some of the fat and increases the fiber to make it as Weight Watcher friendly as possible. It's called Louisiana Red Beans & Rice (Light Version) if you want to check it out. Feel free to give me any feedback.

Jerk Chicken

I adapted a recipe from Gourmet magazine for jerk chicken and I have posted it to the website. It is recipe ID# 170323 simply entiltled jerk chicken. I have made it with boneless, skinless chicken breasts to cut down the fat and my alterations make it hot but the seasonings can be altered to your own personal taste. Take a look and see what you think.

A good week

Well, it turned out to be a good week. I dropped 6.5 pounds but I really went overboard on the dieting and did a lot of exercise. I came across a couple of recipes that I played around with and made some changes but I haven't had a chance to post them yet. I plan to try to get those listed this weekend and hopefully somone else may enjoy them as well.

Anyone else have anything to share or any good food ideas come to mind? I'm always open for conversation.

Wineguy818 update

Since I don't go to meetings and I'm only following the plan on my own so I don't have to keep paying WW fees I've decided to do a series of updates on my progress to the group. I think having at least some level of accountability will help with the progress. I am looking over recipes throughout Big Oven and from previous posts on this board for interesting ideas and if I come across something unique I will be sure to sahre it with the group.

I'm sure there aren't too many men following the WW plan but due to health problems that have been mounting for some time I joined the program and went to meetings for awhile but I found them to be too much marketing of their products and not enough discussion for my taste. I still have the materials and I will be following the formula to the best of my abilities.

I encourage anyone who wants to talk about the diet, recipes you have found, or your own progress to post and get some dialogue going; it is in the best interest of the whole group and it may be fun.

Until next time, good luck to everyone out there!

New to the group

Hello everyone. I am new to Big Oven and the group but I am currently following the WW flex plan. I have been on and off and the diet train for many years but here I go again. Anyway, I hope to have some good discussions and maybe share some recipes as I attempt to drop over 100 pounds.

Spinach Dip

Okay everyone i need your help. Today we where give about 20 containers of Spinach Dip and never eaten it so I'm looking for any kind of recipes with Spinach Dip in it or if you know of anything its good with or for?

First Posting

A little new to this group, but I hope to use it as support. I started weight reduction Nov, 10. and have lost 30 lbs. The hard part is it keeps going up and down, but I keep up with the calorie counting and exercising, now I am looking for the Psychological support.

lurker

I've been a lurker but now I have to get serious!!  Thanks for everyone's honesty!  It's inspiring!

Weight Watchers New Momentumâ„¢ Plan

Time to do some reading up on this new Weight Watchers Momentum Plan. I don't know if US has started on it yet. The "Flex? Core? Let's do it together." won't apply anymore. Not sure yet how the Core people will feel about the plan not existing anymore.
I didn't lose any weight this week but it comes as no surprise. Actually I expected a gain. I don't know what happened to me. On Friday I went crazy. I went to the fridge to get 1 Aero Singles bar (2 points). I finished that and went back to fridge to write on my grocery list as there was only 1 left. I proceeded to eat the last Aero Singles bar, 3 Kitkat Singles bars (2 points each), a whole bag of Yo-Granolas which are mini granola bars 12 in a bag I think (1 point each). 22+ points of snacks AFTER  having just had an 11 point supper!!

HAPPY THANKSGIVING

Hi Everybody,

Just wanted to wish you all a very happy and healthy Thanksgiving.

There will be lots and lots of temptations, but you can do this.  Take tastes of what you enjoy, but mostly, enjoy the company.  Friends and family are what it's all about, not the food.

Back On Track and Smiling

Hey you guys and gals,

We're showing 113 members as of this morning, so where are you all hiding?  C'mon out of lurkdom.  This weight loss thing (and maintenance) takes a village, not just one or two people, if we're going to be successful, so c'mon out, post a hello, and tell us how we can help YOU!!

As for me, after several weeks of ignoring the scale, I finally weighed in this morning, and I'm happy to say I'm now down a total of 12 pounds.  Not a huge amount (since September 18) by any means, but progress none the less, so I'm a happy girl.  There was a brief spell there where the iron beast (or plastic in this case) was going in the wrong direction.

Our Thanksgiving here in the U.S.A. is Thursday.  Even though it's my favorite holiday of them all, for this year, I'm going to treat it as if it's just another day.  Do you have a strategy in place?

Tales from the Scales

I accepted this weeks .6lb loss although the new scales were reading a bit higher than my old one. My old one completely kicked the bucket now so I can't compare.

New WW Bathroom Scales

I normally only get on the scales on Wednesday but I woke up really early on Saturday morning. I was so tired and before I went back to bed I got on the scales for some unknown reason. To my shock they didn't work!! That really woke me up. I was so upset. I went to the store and purchased new lithium batteries. I got on scales and presto they worked. Sunday morning I wanted to be sure they still worked. They didn't work!! I took out fresh batteries and cleaned the contacts. Got back on scales and again they worked. Now Monday morning I test again. They didn't work!! I checked online for price and rating of different scales. I finally decided on a good rated one with basic features and was apparently in stock at the store. I went to the store and they had every other model but the one I wanted. They did however have 2 models of Weight Watchers scales which weren't even listed online. One of them was larger and more expensive. It had the Last, Start, and Goal Weight, Bone Mass, Body Water, BMI, Body Fat and who knows how many other things. I got the other one that does Body Fat, Hydration and of course Weight. It has a 10 user memory. Now I just have to figure out how to set it up for 1 person ME!

Lost Weight - Courage

Hi Guys I would like to share with you my experience. I am a female who just turned 20 and use to weigh 84/85 kg. Today I weigh 54 kg and I feel healtier than ever. I wanted to share this with you to give others the courage to loose those unwanted kilos. Good Luck

Finally took the plunge!

I finally got myself back to WI's a few months ago with my neighbor and I have lost 13 pounds and only a pound away from my current Goal Weight. Haven't been by the boards here in months and thought I better stick to Big Oven again and visit all of my friends here!

HOLIDAY PLANNING AND RECIPES

Yeah, I know, but the holidays ARE almost upon us.  Do you have a plan in place?  I know for me, Christmas and New Years will be a little difficult, because I'll be visiting my (very skinny) family, and won't be doing the cooking......   but I can still watch my portions, so that's my plan (that, and to stay away from the munchies that my grand kids are always inhaling).

Once again, I'd like to remind y'all about
Dotties Weight Loss Zone
Not only does Dottie have some wonderful recipes posted on her site, she's got full holiday menus to help us stay OP.

Even people who are not watching their weight, seem to love it.

So, let's get some recipes posted here so we can get our plans in place before we're in the midst of holiday panic.

And, let's always remember, it's the company, not the food that makes our holidays special.

WI UPDATE

Tomorrow makes one month since I restarted my journey to a healthier weight.  Progress has been slow, and some days, up and down, but I am thrilled to stay that in this month, I have lost a total of 6.5 pounds!!   No, not an earthshattering amount, but better off than on.  I will happily take a pound and a quarter a week.  Even a pound a week will be fine with me, as I head down the road to my goal and beyond.

And you know what?  I really don't think I could have done even this much without having this site to come to.  It reinvigorates me daily, so to those who have taken an active role in this, I thank you from the bottom of my heart.
