BigOven

When I sync my shopping list with my PocketPC the list will show the first time I launch the App. but if I close it and reopen it I get an error "Could not find resource assembly Could not find resource assembly".  I got this with the latest version on your site.  I then saw a different release in a thread here and tried it and still get the error.  My current version is 1.308.0.0.  After saying OK to the error my shopping list is now empty?  My recipes are still there but no shopping list?  I can resync and it is still not there.  I have to delete the file "My Current Lists" in My Documents, BigOven, Shopping Lists on the PocketPC.  Then when  I do a sync the list is there for the next launch of BigOven.

I'm having the same problem as Scott had last year. When I transfer a shopping list from my PC to my Pocket PC it opens and displays correctly the first time I open it. After closing BigOven and reopening it, the message "Could not find resource assembly Could not find resource assembly" is displayed and the shopping list is empty.

 I don't have any ampersands in my shopping list. I deleted dashes and brackets in case they were a problem.

I installed .NET Compact Framework and it's made no difference.

I'm running Windows Mobile 2003 on an iPAQ 2210, BigOven Mobile 1.300.0.0.

I hope someone can help as my main use of the program will be the shopping lists.

Thanks -- we'll check into this. 

In this case, the error message the free Pocket PC companion gives you is wrong.  It's actually saying it cannot complete the operation, which was trying to write a file (following that, it cannot load an error message reporting assembly.)  The error we think is 99% likely due to the fact that the Pocket PC cannot write the file out for some reason, but we cannot yet reproduce this here.  Can you email us (support@bigoven.com) a copy of the shopping list you're trying to save?  (To email a shopping list, bring it up in BigOven's print preview window, select it all with the mouse and use ctrl-c to copy it to the clipboard.  Then email it to us.)

By now I'm sure you are a pro at the "mobile world".  What sounds so attractive to me is the ability to load your menu and list along with recipes just like yourself.  Is that option available only on a Palm or PDA device or is that also available on the iPhone?  Is the iphone thing only for finding a recipe and not for actually using your own lists?  Is it getting easier to use?

BigOven for Windows Mobile is a free companion that works on Windows Mobile 5.  There is also a different free mobile companion for the Palm.  They require the Desktop Software, but they do allow you to carry your shopping list and recipe(s) with you. 

The free iPhone app currently lets you search the archive, view/modify your online favorites, view/modify your try soon list, and look up anything in the BigOven Food Dictionary.  It will continue to improve in power.  That's what it does for now... thanks!
