Is there a way to select tag for the archieve searches?  I find it difficult to search on only a description.

Yes, you can do this in several ways.

From within BigOven, click "More Options" on the "Find" dialog.  You'll see an option to add up to 5 tags/categories to narrow down your search.

If you're just using the website (www.bigoven.com), first do a keyword search, then, on the left hand side, you'll see a bar that lets you include or exclude various tags (or enter your own) to filter down the result set.

What is the search you are trying to perform? 

Note that in BigOven "simple search" it searches for the full text that you enter in the box literally character-for-character in either the title, text, or ingredients... so, rather than enter something like "anchovies and mushrooms" in the simple keyword search, use the "More Options" search if you're going beyond, say, "Lasagna" or "Caesar Salad" in your search.
