Manipulating recipes found in all Recipe Boxes

I don't know if this should be posted as a " Feature Requests" or a " Help, Problems and Fixes".

What I attempted to do was a find searching for recipes with 3-5 stars in all boxes, then trying to use the Course view to find just Main Dishes.  Well this gives a sort on the original recipe box and not on the recipes I just collected.

I know I could set the Tag to Main Dishes, but if I want Deserts I have to do another find.  It would be nice to be able to use Course on the original find.  I got around this by creating  a !Temp recipe box and copied all that was found to the new box and was able to manipulate them after changing to the !Temp box.

It would be nice to be able to do this without having to copy them.

My suggestion would be to create a behind the scenes Temp box that you could manipulated until a new search all boxes was performed or a new recipe box was selected.  Obviously the Temp box would have to be cleared before reloading or when the new box was selected.  I've thought about what if you wanted to do a new search in your original box, but not sure what to do because it does that now, but you may want to still clear the Temp box also.

Just a suggestion that I think would make more sense that what is does now.  It's a hard problem to recognize.

    Good Luck,

    Carl

Re: Manipulating recipes found in all Recipe Boxes

I have long been of the opinion that the user shouldn't be burdened with dividing recipes into "boxes" unless they have a specific need to do so -- say, to share a subset of recipes or something.

The program should take care of that sort of thing in the background without troubling the user. That way, BigOven can create "boxes" as it needs (and for optimal performance), since as a user, I don't particularly care what file a particular recipe is in, especially if BigOven's search & management tools are beefy enough (which, in your message, you indicated they're currently not).
