During install on new computer ingredient quantities went crazy

I recently bought a new computer and installed Big Oven on it and transferred all my recipes to my new computer. As I live in Australia I clicked yes when, during installation, i was asked if I wanted to show recipes in metric. However what that seems to have done is try to make all the existing recipies metric - which they already were.

At this point my recipes are now useless to me as about 75% of ingreidents have been wrongly 'metric-ized' and I can't work out what they might have been. It's done things like change what was clearly a weight related measurement (e.g. grams) to a liquid related measurement (e.g. mililetres) and in so doing seems to have selected completely random numbers. I've no idea what 719 mililetres of carrots might once have read - and that has happened in all my recipes.

I've since un-ticked the offending option but that hasn't changed the existing recipes.

Is there a cure for this?

If I uninstall the software, then install it again and re-upload my recipes and don't tick that box would that work do you think? Or is there a quicker way to fix this problem?

Hmm.  Checking that box will indeed try to convert all recipes in mixed-metric/imperial format to metric only.  But it should only do it when a recipe is loaded and displayed, when that checkbox option is set.  If you a backup copy of the recipe boxes, what you should probably do is uninstall the product, then reinstall and leave the "convert recipes to metric" option unchecked on install.  Then, copy the recipe boxes back over.

Well it worked - had to re-install the software. Fortunately I still had the files on my external hard drive from when I transferred everything to the new computer.

It was definitely a problem though - I checked about 100 recipies and the vast majority of them had wrong ingredients even though I unchecked the box after install. Maybe you could put a warning there for those of us non-americans - or maybe change the text of that box because when I read it I thought it meant that new recipes would be displayed in metric. Just a thought.

I still love my Big Oven even with this minor glitch :)

Thanks -- When you get a chance, can you email us the recipe box file, and we'll take a look?
