BigOven

When I try to edit several UNITS in a recipe, (changing pounds to lb; teaspoons to tsp), the first correction will take until I make a second correction.  When I enter the second abreviation and click enter, the first correction will revert back to the original entry.  If I make any correction and hit the down arrow to move the recipe up, the program crashes.  Continuous happening.

Thanks, we'll try to reproduce and of course fix when we do.

(For the time being, be sure that the row is selected (i.e., by clicking the scale icon), not the dropdown, before you click the up or down arrows to move the row up or down.  That is, the edits/changes for the line must be committed before the line is moved.

I clicked on the scale, then the unit (teaspoon), then the down arrow and clicked on tsp.  If I hit enter, the change will take place until I make another correction, then the first correction reverts back to the original entry (teaspoon).  If I make the correction and hit the down arrow (not ENTER) to move the recipe up, it crashes the program.

I'm getting a little confused.  Can you distinguish between hitting the down-arrow key on the keyboard, and clicking on the down-arrow in the upper right of BigOven?  (For now, the up/down arrow buttons on BigOven should only be used when the entire row is selected.)

I am not hitting the keyboard down arrow key; only the unit DOWN ARROW to find the abreviation, and the DOWN ARROW on the ingredients list to move the recipe up to see the next hidden lines.

Also, If I change just one unit from teaspoon to tsp and then switch to another recipe, upon returning to the first recipe the original "teaspoon" is back again, not "tsp".  The edit is malfunctioning.

Currently you need to press TAB or ENTER to commit the change.  Just switching to another recipe doesn't commit the change. 

I hit enter then switch.  It still will not make the change.

 Is it commiting the change if you press TAB to move to the next field?

 Something to check -- are you sure your folders aren't marked "Read Only" in Windows?  Exit out of BigOven, and, using Windows Explorer, navigate to your "My BigOven Recipes" folder.  In Vista, by default, it's stored in:

c:\Users\Public\Documents\My BigOven Recipes

(If you don't have it in the default location, please tell us so we can add this to our test -- we're still not able to reproduce the behavior you are seeing.)

Right click on the My BigOven Recipes folder, choose Properties, and be sure that "Read Only" isn't checked, and click on the Security tab to ensure that you can read/write/execute everything in that folder, and all its subfolders.

Hitting TAB changes the entry, but moving off the entry and it changes back to original.

My Big Oven Recipes folder is on another partition than C:

Vista will not allow me to change the Read Only for My Big Oven Recipe folder.  All the other sub folder and files do not have the read only bulleted.

What is the full path for your My BigOven Recipes folder? 

We are able to reproduce a crashing bug (we think we've found and fixed it in the labs) in the ingredient control when you attempt to scroll the ingredient list while it is being edited.  We believe we've found and fixed it in the labs (it's no longer occurring here in our test build of 1.8.980, which will ship soon) and will post a free update.

However, the not-saving behavior you note doesn't appear to be related to this.  Are you able to make other changes to your recipe and have them "stick"?  E.g., change the title to something else, the cuisine to something else, etc. 

We have a fix candidate for the crashing bug, and will send you a private build to test via email before distributing more widely.  Thanks!

The above is the location of My BigOven Recipes folder.

I have changed the Title, Cusine, Main Ingredient and they all have changed OK.  No problem there.
