    Nutrition Information

Maybe I just can't find it (I'm in day 2 of the trial and seriously ready to buy), but is there any way I can manually enter nutrition information for an ingredient that BigOven doesn't already have? I double click the scale icon when I'm on the Edit tab for an ingredient that has no such information and nothing happens. As a result, my recipe doesn't have accurate nutrition information, which is critical to why I am thinking of buying this program (or a similar one). I can enter a new ingredient, but there is no option to add nutrition info to that new entry. Also, if I'm looking at the Nutrition tab, in the box where there is listed the ingredients that have no nutrition information, there's an "Analyze" button, but it doesn't appear to do anything.

Is this a limitation of the trial, am I just overlooking something, or can the program not do this?

    Thanks

    Hi there,

To add a new nutritional item to the database, simply click "Nutrients" on the left hand icon bar, and then click "New".  Once you add any new items, they will be available for linking.  Thanks!

     Thanks for responding.

I was double clicking the wrong thing. I was clicking the button near the upper right area of the edit window, rather than the icon to the left of the item itself.

This lets you add new items to the ingredient list, but I don't see any way to manually enter the nutrition information, i.e. it has to be matched to something already in the database. I'm fine with matching emmantaler cheese with swiss, but I don't think that fat-free mozzarellla has exactly the same nutritional profile as part skim mozzarella.

ETA: Also, does this software track anything that doesn't appear on the FDA mandated nutrition labels?
