uploading all recipes to the web

I have over 200 recipes in my BigOven desktop app and I'll like to be able to see all of them easily on my phone, which is what I take with me to the store.

Is there a simple way to upload all these recipes to the website AND add them all to my favorites so that I can access them on my iPhone? Or is there another trick to do this easily?

Ability to add prices to ingredients?

Hello,

I noticed that a few people have asked about being able to add prices for ingredients, so that it would be possible to estimate the cost of a meal (or several meals). Has this feature been added (and I just can't find it), or is it in the works? It would be a very helpful feature. I think one person even mentioned the ability to be able to enter different prices for different grocery stores - this would be quite helpful as well.

Bigoven shopping list for iPhone

Hi!

I´ve tried BigOven for a while now and find it most useful! Now I wonder if there is a way for me to translate for example ingredients to my own language. I found the "Ingredients" under Tools, Options but when I change an ingredients name the old one is still there and I get a new with my own name. I want the change to be reflected in all recipes containing the ingredient that was changed.

Many programs also have a feature to translate the text in the programinterface - how about that?

Is their anyway the BO can stop displaying dishes made with meat and fish on my page? I am a strict vegetarian and abhore the consumption of meat and fish by human carnivorous!! I won't go into the ethics of it all here but I feel that other than the ads displayed we should have complete control of what shows up on our pages...those meat products being displayed on vegetarian's pages are especially insentsitive!! A simple filter controlled by us could be made available so we can filter out recipies and or photos of certain classes of foods from being displayed on our pages. Other than that BO is great and have been happy with it....have been sending recipies to my Facebook page and getting converts now!! Thanks.

Retain Option Settings when updating Big Oven Versions

I like very much that Lakefront continues to improve the Big Oven program. However, every time I run an update, I have to reset the files location under Tools-Options. Other programs remember options settings between updates, and I would very much appreciate Big Oven remembering user settings, also. Thanks

I have recipes going back to the late 1800's about 5 generations worth and being how I love to invent my own, it would be so helpful to be at the store and see my weeks menu. Blackberry has been around long before the iphone, yet they get the software? Please help us BB users!

Search by Prep Time

When I am deciding what to cook, the first two things I think about are how much time I have and what I have on hand. I like that I am able to easily find recipes that use a particular main ingredient, but I really need to be able to filter based on how much time I have to prepare a recipe. I'd really like to make much better use of the Prep Time & Cook Time data that's hidden under ratings. Right now I have a work around that uses tags - I have tags called <15 prep, <30 prep, etc. that I check off for each recipe. This is cumbersome and annoying though, considering the timing information is already entered for many recipes that I import!

So far I like the software! I'm looking forward to future improvements. Thanks in advance

Season/Occasion add Halloween

I am surprised that Halloween is not listed as one of the occasions under Season/Occasion . Halloween is one of the biggest "holidays" of the year, and there are probably more recipes for it than any other, with the exception of Christmas. Superbowl is listed, but that is only a celebration for the United States, and I am sure that Big Oven is BIG in other countries, that DO celebrate Halloween. quicker access to recipes

hi just wondering if theres an easrier way to access recipe lists that have a large content.

for example italian dishes 255 pages? but you can only jump from units of ten this can take ages to get to page 125 for instance, can you place a page number please so we can go direct to page number thank you

Adding Non Recipes To A Meal Plan

If I want to add lets say bread and butter to a meal plan I have to create a false recipe with just a title to include it in the plan... a feature allowing you to add items without them being a recipe would be great.

Why is there no Export Button?

I belong to a women's group who share recipes. Some of us have new computers, some old ones, some none at all. For those who don't the recipes are printed and shared. We all have our own favourite recipe program like MealMaster and MasterCook which can import and export each others recipes. BigOven can't. Is there any future upgrade that will fix this or is it a policy of BigOven not to export their recipes in another recipe program format.

Searchable ingredients

I am disappointed because I just discovered that the ingredients I add do not appear to be searchable. For example, I would like to search for recipes containing the ingredients creme fraiche or arugula, but I cannot seem to do that, even though I added those to the ingredient list.

Chocolate cookies - hmm the Chocolate recipe box or Cookie recipe box? Linking a single recipe to multiple recipe boxes. Is it possible without duplication? Guess not as each recipe box is it's own DB.

Spell Check

Looking through the forum of feature requests it seems that people have been asking for spell check for over 2 years. Why hasn't it happened yet? It can't be that difficult. I even have spell check while typing this with the browser I am using. There are plenty of PD spell check engines out there that could be incorporated. Other than that, I love the program - just thought of another thing, right mouse click support for highlighted text - the new standard in selecting text for copy/paste/cut maybe lookup etc. And a section break in the method area maybe like the header line in ingredients so that sections of prep can be separated.

Add more ingredients to your recipe ingredient list

I purchased the Big Oven program this year after several years using Master Cook. The main frustration I am having with the Big Oven program is the limited list of ingredients as I add recipes to my file. An example would be if a recipe calls for milk, I always use 1% milk, but your program does not have the various types of milk. I like to use the nutrition value aspect of a recipe program so I can adjust recipes to make them healthier. I know Big Oven allows me to add ingredients but I don't always have the nutritional value of the various ingredients right by me as I am entering recipes to my file. Masker Cook has an extensive list of ingredients and I would like to see that added to the Big Oven program. Thank You.

printing all recepies

hi,

would it be possible to print all recepies of a specified keyword ?

one would not do this all the time but it would be nice to create sort of a menu with all the recepies and behaps the picture as well

when i have to cook for a occasion and i have to choose the recepies i am going to make i would like to have a paper list of all the recepies i have under a specific keyword (e.g.my name) so the wife could choose without the use of the computer

Why can't we add videos we like on BiGOven to our page like we can the photos and recipies...you know like adding them to our favorites list?

We're always adding new features to the site, and though Ruby On Rails is a terrific framework, we use ASP.NET and the Microsoft app platform at present. We plan to add several new features to the site over the coming year, though for competitive reasons, we won't be detailing them until they hit beta, as is our policy.

Mac marketshare does continue to climb, which is great news, but it's still considerably in the single digits (e.g., this article suggests they were only seeing 3% or so of worldwide market share shipments last July, and since it has come up from many years past, they have a far smaller cumulative installed base. However, the beloved Mac does continue to climb in market share, which is great to see). Basically, while we really do love the Mac from a user standpoint, we're taking a wait-and-see approach for now, but could certainly see some dedicated development on it should the installed base share continue to climb very rapidly... but it'd need to go considerably north of where it is today.

I am liking your site quite a bit, the main thing that stops me from using it more than the other major sites....... Lack of "sort by".

I use "sort by rating" quite a bit. Many times I do wish to be adventurous and try a recipe that only has a few ratings, but many times I need a winner on short notice and when I sort by rating and see a recipe that has 5 stars (and 200 reviews) I am pretty sure it will be good.

For me the lack of it is kind of a deal breaker. Am I not seeing the feature?

Software for Mac OSX

I have just signed up to your site and am thoroughly impressed. . . with one exception. I went to download your software when I realised that is is only available for PC!

I note that you went to the trouble of creating an app for the iPhone but do not offer your software for OSX. Are you planning on making your software for Mac's?
